Hall takes Power Up to Teen Choice Awards

August 6, 2008 - Kathryn Cunningham Hall has had a big summer.Twenty months after founding Power Up Gambia, the nonprofit has reached its first big goal - purchasing for the Sulayman Jungkung General Hospital in The Gambia solar panels that will provide it full-time electricity for the first time. The organization has accomplished the mission she set after completing a summer outreach program there.

On Friday, Hall flew to Los Angeles to walk the red carpet with the likes of Miley Cyrus at the Teen Choice Awards, where she was a finalist for the Do Something Awards. If she had won, she would have given an Oscar-like acceptance speech and come home with $100,000 for PUG. That did not happen, but she still took home a tidy bundle for her project.
