Elaine, a General Partner of EuclidSR Partners , focuses on investing in companies developing therapeutic product opportunities and applying new technologies to the bottlenecks in drug development. Elaine began her venture capital career in 1999 at S.R. One and, earlier, built her expertise in drug development through a long career in basic research and product assessment in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining S.R. One, Elaine was a Director of Scientific Licensing for SmithKline Beecham, where her specific product focuses were arthritis, bone disease, urology and cancer. In her previous research career at SmithKline Beecham, Elaine applied her virology and biotechnology background to vaccine development.
Currently a Director of Targacept, Inc., Fluidigm Corporation, and Acurian, Inc., Elaine has been a Director of Avantium Technologies B.V., InnaPhase Corporation, Message Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Nucleonics, Inc. She also was an observer on the boards of Adolor Corporation, Cogent Neurosciences, Inc., Descartes Therapeutics, Inc., SCYNEXIS, Inc., Therion Biologics Corporation, and Vicuron Pharmaceuticals, Inc.Elaine has served on the Board of the Pennsylvania Biotech Association and is currently a member of the Ben Franklin Technology Partners BioMedical Investment Advisory Committee.
Elaine has a B.S. from Juniata College and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Pittsburgh. She conducted post-doctoral research at the National Institutes of Health, in the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease. |
