 Fran Pierce stepped into the CEO role at DSA in 1991 during challenging times.   Business in the custom software industry  was declining due to the growing availability  of commercial off-the-shelf software and an increasingly difficult economy for the industry. Attempts to sell the company were not successful.  The Board of the ESOP-owned company elected Fran to lead the turnaround.
